Mediation involves the open sharing of all pertinent financial and family related material involved in a case. Once the facts are known, all parties work to reach an agreeable settlement. As mediator, I am there to assist you in understanding the law and working through your differences to reach a mutually satisfactory conclusion.

This method of alternative dispute resolution is often more satisfying for the parties involved because they have a forum where they can speak freely and honestly about how they will proceed. In the traditional courtroom setting, there is little opportunity to express what is important in a divorce, child custody, or other family law matter. This form of ADR gives people more control over how their disputes are handled in the future.

The ability to present your case in a process less formal and pressured than in the courtroom has many benefits:

• Parties are more likely to obey an agreement arrived at through cooperation than one handed down by a judge.
• Children benefit when their parents can learn to work together, even on a limited basis, to reach an agreement.
• The solutions reached in litigation are based on the limited time the judge has to spend getting to know the situation. Every case is different and mediation allows the parties to express those differences and plan accordingly.
